This job is intended to develop into a Lead Estimator position with additional responsibilities and reports.
The Assistant Commercial Construction Estimator will be responsible for assisting the lead estimator in preparing detailed estimates for commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will have some knowledge of construction materials, methods, and processes, as well as some analytical skills to accurately develop project costs. This role requires the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively both internally and externally.
Responsibilities:
- Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare estimate packages for commercial construction projects.
- Gather and analyze data on labor, materials, and equipment costs to accurately estimate project costs.
- Assist in preparing detailed bid proposals, including quantity take-offs, pricing, and cost analysis.
- Collaborate with other departments, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure accurate and timely estimates.
- Assist in the preparation of project budgets, schedules, and other project-related documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and other project-related documentation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred is preferred but not required.
- 3-5 years of experience in commercial construction industry: estimating, superintendent, project management; former construction business owner.
- Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and processes.
- Developing knowledge and ability to read blueprints from architects, mechanical, plumbing & electrical engineers and civil engineers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications. Some knowledge of the following software is preferred but not required: Planswift, Procore and Pipeline.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. Works well in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise good judgment.
Working Conditions:
The Assistant Commercial Construction Estimator will work in an office environment and may occasionally need to attend job site visits or meetings.
Physical Requirements:
The Assistant Commercial Construction Estimator may need to sit or stand for extended periods and may need to lift or move objects up to 15 pounds.
